The Study of Sino-Thai Lexicon Correspondences, consisting of Professor Prapin Manomaivibool’s doctoral research work, is the best proof of this fact.It is about time Thai people read a book like this which should have been published long before now. Indeed, her research was carried out as far back as the year 1975. Nonetheless the work remains today a pioneering piece of research and a major historical Sino-Thai linguistic study. It is a reliable work of reference that has already been cited both locally and worldwide.This researcher has investigated the languages ---through the methods she has opted to use --- and confirmed the Sino-Thai relationship, revealing in what ways the two languages correspond and for how long. Her findings support the assertion that the two languages are related. This study, therefore, is not only a scholarly work in the field of comparative linguistics but it also serves as historical evidence showing for how long the Thai people have been in contact with the Chinese and over what period of time.
